Steven Edell was born and raised in New Jersey before attending Yale University where he received his B.A. in Fine Arts in 2003. He was a four-year member of the Varsity Men's Swimming team throughout college and won three bronze medals at the 2001 Maccabiah Games in Israel. While doing a semester abroad in Prague at FAMU, he wrote and directed his first short film Bracia, which has won several awards and was nominated for a Student Academy Award. Steven is currently pursuing a M.F.A. in Film Production at the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts. While at USC, he directed his second short film Hanbleceya, which explores the relationships of three generations of Native American men, for which he has received the John Huston Directing Scholarship as well as the Edward Small Directing Scholarship. Steven wrapped shooting his thesis film Honza in Prague earlier this year and is hard at work finishing up post-production on the project.
